The Opening Diary: Part 8
Eleven months. It has been eleven months since I wrote an update…
Sorry about that. I’ve been busy! (Also, I started The Opening Diary as a video blog series on my Tik Tok and it’s done pretty well… and takes a lot less time.)
Happy 2024! Feld isn’t open yet. But we are finally getting close.
Here are some things, both obvious and not, that I’ve learned in the past year:
· Building permits take a very very long time to get approved (154 days to be exact).
· Sewer pipes are expensive to replace.
· Quickbooks is not nearly as intuitive as it markets itself to be.
· Sending out a ‘Happy Holidays’ newsletter will lose you a surprising number of subscribers.
· Being featured on Eater will gain you a surprising number of newsletter subscribers.
· Nothing goes at the pace you hope for.
· Below 0 temperatures are not good for construction.
· A downspout has to tie into the sewer pipe (at least partially), and can’t just run water to the public way.
· If you have a temporary wooden construction awning, it’s going to get graffiti tagged a whole lot.
