Not So Lucky
Andrew Luck is the only glimmer of hope that the Indianapolis Colts have. He is the future of not only Indianapolis, but the NFL. The Colts start training camp in three days and they are moving forward without their franchise QB who is still stuck on the (PUP) list “recovering” from an offseason shoulder surgery.
Luckily, no pun intended, Andrew has recently started a throwing program and is expecting to be locked and loaded in time for the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Rams (Sun, Sep 10). Stay tuned in the next couple weeks for more information on Luck and the Colts’ QB plans moving forward.
What a week for the young wide receiver. The Dallas Cowboys released Mr. Whitehead after it became apparent that Lucky was charged for shoplifting in West Virginia last month. He swore that he was innocent and that authorities had the wrong guy. This was confirmed but not after the Cowboys released him. Dallas Cowboy team officials stood behind their move and Whitehead was not re-signed.
Luckily for Lucky, the New York Jets claimed him off of waivers today from the Dallas Cowboys.
What Can John Elway Not Do?
Earlier today, news broke that John Elway (GM and VP of Football Operations for the Denver Broncos) would be promoted to President of Football Operations. Given that, he is still going to be the standing General Manager as well. Elway and the Broncos had been in negotiations for months before they finally came to an agreement. Elway signed a five-year contract that will most likely make him the highest paid GM in the league at around $4 million annually.
More Broncos news, CEO Joe Ellis says that he is looking forward to getting a new stadium naming rights deal done as Sports Authority has recently went under.
