This is a very powerful insight, Dessa. I never though of it that way. Hustle I believe should just be a given; if you love what you do, do everything in your power to do that even more.
But you are so right. Hustle is over-glorified. It needs to strike a balance with flow. Flow is being in that state where you aren’t grinding and content or work is coming to you naturally. Obviously, this ebbs up and down, causing you to have lulls in creativity and content.
In those moments, you need that peace. Make enough content while you’re in the flow, so that when you aren’t in that flow, you have content and you can relax.
Hustle when it makes sense to hustle. Grind if you have to — especially in the early years. Eventually, though, you will have the ability to counter hustle with peace.
