Blake St.

I came across this article the other day and it got me thinking about why we started Uncubed and where we are today.

We started back in 2011 because we noticed people liked working around other people and many of our peers were working remotely. Many developers seemed to enjoy working at conferences in the hallways between sessions or even during talks. They weren’t necessarily working together, but felt a boost in productivity just being around other productivity.

The coworking concept has really grown in the past 5 years. New places are popping up all over ranging from small neighborhood spots to McCoworking.

We upgraded our location from RiNo to LoDo a couple of years in, but have resisted the trend to be all things to all people. We don’t run a coffee shop or a restaruant, although many members make pourovers with specialty coffee throughout the day.

We’re across the street from Aoba, D’Corazon and Freshcraft, 3 of my favorite LoDo spots. We’re down the block from Little Owl Coffee, one of the best coffee shops in the city. Our block (Blake St. between 15th and 16th) has 2 coffee shops, 2 sushi restaurants, 2 mexican restraunts, 2 pubs and a burger place.

I enjoy coming here to work everyday, mostly to be around great folks doing great work. I feel more productive here, but it is also nice to go for a walk in the heart of downtown Denver.
