How to address a wide range of skills in classroom

Skill is an ability or power to do something in good manner and it can be improved with practice . Skill development helps us to improve our problem solving techniques. Its a process of finding our skills. Education and skill should be managed equally. Some common examples of skills are communication skills , decision making skills, creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills and etc .

Now taking about addressing these wide range of skills in an classroom , a teacher must have some skills which are discussed as follows:

• Good communication skills:
  When it comes to teaching , good communication skills are a must . When somebody is teaching something , communication is the only key to exchange thoughts . For example , taking a subject mathematics ,in this you can’t just right the solution on question and go , in order to teach you’ve to know whether the question is being understood by your students or not. You’ve to elaborate it with proper reasons or methods . Then only it will work and communication will help out in this .

• Hear students out:
  Good teachers not only communicate but also listens to his students, always try to understand their side . For good communication a teacher should not only talk. Listening well is a kind of skill and everybody should develop this for betterment. The teachers who are good in listening always understand their students side , exchange ideas and know what kinda problem that particular student is facing .
• Engage with students :
  Being able to engage with students is also a skill. A good teacher will perform for their students to keep them going. It’s not always just giving lectures or try to listen to students but also engaging with them. Helping every student in performing their given tasks or by listening to their problems and then solving it . For example , the teacher who teaches his students how to play a game will always come in field and teach . In this process students feel more comfortable and good communication ,listening and engaging all three of them are done .
• Have patience:
  In education, no matter how good you are or which grade you are teaching , your patience will always be tested. Overall a good teacher have patience. Everything takes time. Similarly teaching also requires patience , if you are not patient whit your students and your work then no hard work is going to pay off . While dealing with middle school students then patience is the only way of teaching . By Listening to the student giving them time, having patience , observing things .
  Best method of teaching is to give students more number of classroom experience, always try to interact and bring new and creative ideas of teaching .Most classrooms consist of students with a wide range of abilities because every student comes from a different background . They’ve grown up under different conditions . Each and everyone of them are good in different kinda fields and this makes a classroom . In classroom every one comes to learn and providing them good is teachers responsibility.
• Advantages and disadvantages of group discussions :
  Now think about a classroom and we immediately starts thinking about colors and talking , students and teachers working together in some groups for some projects or playing games together . The importance of group activities in school shouldn’t be ignored because in group new commers are always comfortable in sharing there ideas .Group discussion holds many advantages like ideas exchange , comfortable learning etc . Like advantage their are many disadvantages also . Disadvantages of group work in the classroom include a lot of hard work in finding new ways of learning in a group activity.
  For students, one of the disadvantages of learning in a group is that they face difficulty in decision making and this is obvious because everybody have their own different ideas and no body want to compromise. So teachers should help students come to decisions more democratically. Removing excessive choices will also be beneficial for both teachers and students. Don’t let the disadvantages of teamwork in school stop you from group learning. The benefits of group learning are much more than disadvantages. And this makes it more interesting and successful.
• ‌Assessment of students:
  Assessing students achievement is very important because it’s an achievement in its own. Tests should be taking in some period of time for analysing his students knowledge . A teacher should not always teach but also test his students , to know whether he is going good or it’s just a waste of time beacuse not everyone have the same hunger of learning and growing .Students at young age don’t value things like adults does. Interacting with students is necessary . Understanding their part is necessary . Test can be oral or written. Both of them are equally important because while writing their writing skills will improve and by speaking their communication skills will improve. And at the same time their knowledge will be tested.
  Teachers can use a concept for all students in the classroom by providing students various responsibilities. And also benchmarks and assessments based on their capability. For improving speaking skills a teacher must allow students to read some sort of paragraph aloud in class so that the learning goes on and as well as speaking skills also improves and confidence also builds. Also students can help each other learn . Every student is good in some field and that part of them should be discovered and then is should be improved. Moral value classes should also be proved beacuse only knowledge is not going to take you anywhere if you don’t know how to present , how to speak , how to respect , how to value.

• ‌Slow learners :
  There are different types of students and one of them are slow learners . Neither they are disabled nor do they suffer from mental disorders. Slow learners requires more attention than rest of them because they don’t gasp things fast , they take time and that’s ok . Patience is the key here . There are three learning styles for every person. First of them are visual learners. They learn fast by pictures or visually presented data. Because pictures are easy to remember and they seems interesting. Secound are auditory learners. They learn from orally presented data and also through sounds. Third are tactile learners. These are the learners who learn better when they get hands-on and involved in the activity.
  By above discussed skills , a teacher can know which style is for whom and can work on them accordingly. Through understanding each learner’s unique skills and abilities, teachers can place students in group work where each of them are placed according to their learning styles and activities are different and unique for each group. In this way interactive learning wi go on. Now providing a space where students feel safe is really important. This can be done by individual interaction between the student and the teacher. And by interacting teacher will come to know on which topic that student is interested and have more chances of learning things fast in comparison with others and this is very important.

• Offer choices to students :
  Encouraging children to participate in activities and explore in their own suitable ways. Some children may like to work in groups whereas others will not. Knowing what they want and how they want will always going to help. Offering choices even when meeting children virtually shows that we value their preferences and independence. So offer choices. Try to plan an activity to share with the children and think about how you can adjust the activity. Children needs more time, more support, or experience to understand the concept.
• My suggestion
  Atlast but not the least by understanding your student , interacting with them is the only way to address a wide range of skills in the classroom because good things takes time .
