What challenges or obstacles are you expecting as you begin to work with your communities?

• I think the biggest challenge I’ll face will be getting local publishers to open up to me about some of the inner workings of their business. Most of the local publishers I’ve worked with tend to be very guarded when it comes to things like site traffic, ad revenue, and other data that they deem valuable and competitive.

How do you plan to overcome those challenges in the weeks ahead?

• Basically, I’m just going to try to wear them down. I think most of them will eventually crack, as long as I’m honest and upfront about why I want something from them and what I plan to do with it. I plan to be honest, trustworthy, consistent, thorough, and transparent in my dealings with them. If they still refuse want to open up to me I’ll either have to move on to someone else or perhaps re-evaluate whether the things I want from them are worth having.
