Meryl Streep — An Actress and Activist Worthy of Praise
When admiring and following celebrities, I choose to not only view their artistic creations but also focus on their societal impact on change. My favorite celebrity do-gooder is Meryl Streep. Meryl is a renowned actress who motivates audiences of all ages through her truthful and jaw-dropping storytelling. Not only is she excellent at her craft, but she also gives back and stands up for her morals. In 2011, she donated her entire salary (roughly 1 million dollars) from her film “The Iron Lady” to the National Women’s History Museum. She is now their national spokesperson. In addition to this focus, she has donated and supported more than 20 charities and causes for topics such as autism, cancer, disaster relief, the Me Too Movement, education, and the environment. Meryl stays relatively removed from internet drama and has been nominated for 20 Academy Awards (and counting). She dazzles us with each new role she steps into and supports causes that help better our shared world. Aside from audience praise, Meryl stands as a beacon lending special support to women and young girls of all ages.
