How to solve normal distribution problems like a geek
I m in a social science related grad program which I can’t specify. If I specify then I would have to make you pay for the program tuition. Just kidding…or am I? I am. Anyways I went off tangent here. Since my program is sociology is trying hard to be a “science” conclusion have to be based on statistics. So I am taking stats 101 and enjoying the process of my brain turning into a mush. Now we are grappling with normal distribution and trying to solve z score problems. Problem states:
The weight of a candy from a particular candy shop has a mean of 6 oz with standard deviation of .2 ounce. What is the z score corresponding to a weight of 7.2 oz?

Thankfully I found z score calculator that helped me escape misery of calculation. Plugged these numbers and voila….z score=6. Problem solved….15 more to go.
