As Christians, have you ever struggled with understanding who you truly are? So many voices in this world try to define your worth and identity for you. But there is only one voice that truly matters — the voice of God speaking to your heart.

Curious about knowing your identity in Christ? Let’s rediscover who you were created to be from the beginning.

Knowing Your Identity in Christ

Understanding Your True Identity

Your identity does not come from what you do, how much money you make, or what other people think of you. Your real identity is found in Christ alone. When you accepted Jesus as your Savior, you were given a new identity. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This new identity is yours through no work or merit of your own. It is a free gift received by faith. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9).

Understanding this amazing truth will revolutionize how you view yourself. Through biblical teaching and prophetic visions, the book “His Second Coming” by Marlene Brown also shares powerful insights for strengthening your faith as you await His return.

Defining Moments of Your Identity

Throughout your faith journey, there have likely been defining moments that shaped who you are in Christ. That decision to follow Him forever altered your path and purpose. You became His very own — a son or daughter of the King!

Your baptism was also a powerful reminder of your true identity. As you were lowered into the water and raised back up, it symbolized dying to your old self and being resurrected as a new creation in Him (Romans 6:3–4).

Living Out Your Purpose

Discovering who you are in Christ enables you to live boldly for His purpose. Your Creator fashioned you with intention — with skills, passions and a God-given destiny. When you walk closely with Jesus, He will reveal your purpose bit by bit.

Your light is meant to shine for His glory. Through acts of compassion, living righteously, sharing your story of hope — you share who He is with those around you (Matthew 5:16). While the world see your outward actions, God sees your heart. Keep focusing on Him and watch how He works through you each day.

Redefining Success

This world tells you that success equals fame, wealth and prestige. But in Christ, true success looks very different. It’s obeying God, using your gifts to serve others, making disciples and pointing people to Jesus through your words and actions (Matthew 28:19–20). The rewards aren’t earthly but eternal.

Redefine “success” based on how well you reflect Christ’s light. Evaluate yourself not on what’s popular or whether you “made it”, but on whether you stayed faithful to your Savior each step of the way. This frees you from seeking approval or comparing yourself. Pour your energy into an inheritance that can never be taken — life forever with your Creator (1 Peter 1:3–4).

Rediscover Who You Are

Meditate often on who you are as a child of God. Let your identity in Christ define you more than anything this world says. Rediscover that you are deeply loved, completely accepted and eternally secure in His presence. Though challenges will come, stand strong knowing who holds your future.
