DAY TWO
Day Two started: Trying out another route today, up at 6:45 am, on the train at 7:15 to Wimbledon then on to Farringdon via district and circle line. What a nightmare, it took over one hour forty-five minutes door to door today, due to slow trains and TFL deciding to regulate the service. WHAT A PAIN!!
I made it on time and had a chance to say HI! to everyone with the customary hand shake or fist bump, Skim keeps changing his welcome, trying to test me I’m sure.
At the stand up, I had something productive to say, from what I achieved on day one. Then I discussed what I wanted to achieve on my second day, which was to make a start on the Clean Coders book and start the interviews with my colleagues.
Seems easy.. I managed to complete 5 interviews with my colleagues today which was very interesting to spend some one on one time with them. Was great to start to build a stronger bond with each of them on a professional and personal level.
Again the culture and philosophies of 8th Light oozed out of everyone. I hope they saw the same passion in me and why I joined 8th Light.
The highlight of the day was sitting down with most of the team for lunch, chatting and joking. I think this is a really nice touch that everyone tries to do this everyday. It’s a great way to integrate and develop together as a team and a company.
The low point of the day was I didn’t get as much reading done as I would of liked to. I did however manage two extra interviews and was interviewed as well which was nice and refreshing that my colleagues were interested to know more about me. This turned the low point of the day into a positive.
Roll on day three and route number three tomorrow after an early morning gym session!
