There is no reason to think that an increase from 300 miles to 315 miles in the range of the top-of-the-line Teslas is in any way a breakthrough or tipping point, or that increasing range to 400 miles will be significant in the market. 300 miles is far more than a single driver can safely pilot any car without a break, and Tesla’s supercharger network — on top of the thousands of lower-capacity chargers everywhere -, means that the charging stops are barely an inconvenience. The range of a Model T Ford was under 200 miles.
