Wow, what a story to read before falling asleep. I wonder what dreams I will have tonight! This reminds me of one of the best male friends I ever had when in the Navy some 35 years ago. We did everything together. Classic young men friendship. The day he was discharged from the service I carried his duffle bag for him from the ship all the way down to the exit on 32nd Street in San Diego. I gave him a hug goodby and cried all the way back to my bunkbed. Unfortunately I haven’t had this type of male friendship since. I don’t know if I’m scared to get close or what, but I do crave it sometimes, but like many other men I suppose I carry on. Thank you for sharing the story.
