Raising 5 kids.
If you follow me on social media, you’ll know that my wife and I are expecting our fifth child in January.
I’m genuinely excited and nervous as we’re yet to find out the sex of the child.
“Just as long as it is healthy right James?” …. Sure….. *cough cough*
But of late I’ve been considering just writing. After all, that is how I got started in the online space and with my full time job changing pace in the next few months, I think it is the perfect time to go back and start writing about parenting again.
In the beginning, I had a blog called Raising 3 Daughters. It was great fun and it was where I made my first dollars online. But obviously, our family has expanded since then.
I’ve revisited that blog occasionally but never continued with it. However, this time, I think I might just stick with it.
In 5 months, just days after welcoming baby 5 into the world, we’re moving again. This will be our 3rd move in 4 years. It’s not far in fact we’re moving up the road to Sydney. A place that I am still not sure how I feel about living in.
I’ve visited Sydney many times before with work and for travel. I like the city but I can’t say that I love it. It’s busy. Being from sleepy old WA, the thought of living in a busy city is concerning. I don’t know why, I just feel like it will be all horns and murders.
Having said that, I’m also incredibly excited. While we’re moving the kids from another school again, I am genuinely excited to be in a city with so much to do. This is what is most exciting.
In fact, one of the first things that both myself and the wife did was check Menulog to see how many different cuisines were available for delivery to our new house. Why? Because we love food.
I guess my point is, everything can be an adventure if you look at it through that lens. Sure, it would be great to remain here in Canberra, keep the kids in the school they are at now and just keep on living how we are now but that is not what life is about. That is definitely not what life is about when you’re raising kids.
Adventure is the name of the game with life. So many people view having kids as a reason to not have adventure in your life. Like they are a reason to stop exploring.
Having kids just means you have to be inventive in the way that you experience adventure.
