Ben Lindbergh and Jason Concepcion’s discussion of Westworld on The Ringer’s video game podcast convinced me that the adaption of video game mechanics to film/television, instead of individual video game stories, will be the area where we see the most success. While I understand Ben’s reasoning in this article, I believe the standard to which we hold television shows today makes the bar tougher to clear for video game adaptations on television rather than in film. I just don’t think the story lines of the Halo, Zelda, and Castlevania series were built to endure the scrutiny they would receive in the modern television climate. Hopefully I’m wrong, though!
