How To Break Through The Competition And Build A Following | 16 Year Old Entrepreneur

What’s up guys/girls, It’s James here.

In this post, I am going to tell you exactly how to break through the competition and build a following.

After you find your passion, you need to find what platform (YouTube, Blog, Podcast) works best for you.

Then, you need to start producing content!

But, it might seem overwhelming and you might be asking yourself, “how do I get my videos seen when so many other people are doing the same thing?”

Let me tell you exactly how to break through the competition and build a following from scratch.

It comes down to three steps.

  1. Quality Content
  2. Free Content
  3. Care
  4. Patience

1. Quality Content

The first step is creating quality content.

Whenever you post a video it has to contain either practicality or entertainment.

Practicality means when someone watches/reads it, they learn something and can apply it immediately.

So, if your content is about guitar, I better walk away a better guitarist or with a new trick/tip.

If your content is shit, no one is going to watch it.

The easiest way to produce good content is to actually know what you’re talking about.

That means putting in the time to become an expert on your topic.

As I have said before, if you can’t make a list of 50 video ideas, you need to be putting more time on getting better at your niche.

2. Free Content

There is so much competition.

In the next couple of years, every high school kid will be sharing their passion on youtube.

You need a way to separate yourself from the crowd and break through the competition.

When I first started out in the entrepreneurial world, I made a website and all it said was “buy this.”

I had no content, I had no customer relationships, I thought that if I put a product out into the market, I was going to make millions.

Well, I didn’t.

And this is why.

Nowadays, it seems like the norm to shove product downs people through and expect people to buy.

Way too many people are doing that and that is why it just doesn’t work anymore.

So once the alternative?

How do you separate yourself from the rest?

You have to be giving so much free content away that they feel bad not to buy.

Your focus should not be on the money, it should be around giving people quality free and content and building trust.

If you don’t, people will have no connection to you and no way to trust you.

Don’t try to convert people into customers, make so much free content that they feel like they are missing out on what your paid product is.

99% of your content should be free valuable content that is either practical and helpful or entertainment.

Stop chasing short cash and think about the long term game.

I chased short cash when I first started and now I am starting from square one a year later.

Don’t make the same mistake I did and start to think long term.

3. Care

What is the best marketing strategy every?

If you want people to trust you and eventually buy your products, you have to care about every single customer like they are a close relative.

Because our time is limited. Have you ever seen someone scroll the Instagram?

I have never seen a finger swipe so fast. That means they are swiping past your content.

And as our time becomes more and more limited, our attention shortens meaning you have to do much more to get someone to pay attention to your content.

You need to start getting people to engage your content, not just view it.

If people see that you interact with your followers, they will have the incentive to interact to — there is a snowball effect.

If people are interacting with your content, it means you are building trust.

Trust = money.

If it takes you 20 minutes to produce your content, you should spend at least an hour interacting with your followers.

And if you don’t have a following, you should be on other people’s blog posts and youtube videos based on your passion and you should be interacting with their follower.

You should be using, looking up hashtags on Instagram around your topic, and finding online communities/forums to join.

You need to be interacting with people so you can start to build your name!

If you are having trouble gaining a following, or even your first follower, sit down at your computer and start interacting with people around your topic (using the methods above) for six hours and then let me know if you’re still having trouble.

Fucking sit down and commit.

Care = distribution of content.

You need to treat every customer like it’s your brother.

4. Patience

The last step to building a following is patience.

Stop thinking that just because you post a couple videos, you are going to wake up and have a massive following.

Shit doesn’t work like that.

Don’t ever worry about how long it’s going to take.

If you do, you lose.

This is not an overnight process, it takes years to build a massive following.

Stop chasing fast cash and start thinking long term.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Produce quality content, and interact with your following and other peoples following, and be PATIENT.

Stop worrying abut what other people have and go to war on your passion!

Best of luck,
