Manchester Christmas Markets

The Christmas markets in Manchester keep growing bigger and bigger each year. Now, my general rule is that Christmas merriment shouldn’t start before December, however the Christmas markets start right back on 14th November and continue until 21st December.
The markets are a hustle bustle of people all in festive cheer and, here’s a tip if you are planning to visit, instead of pushing your way through the crowd, it is much easier to slow down to a “market pace”.
The market feel to have a lot more space this year for some reason which is good as in previous years it has been know to get quite compact in some areas. For those who don’t know, the market is mostly made up of crafty and foodie stalls which centre around the Town Hall. All of the usual stalls are there, including my favourite one which sells fresh strudel and custard. There was even a lady who I have never seen there before selling the biggest scones you have ever seen, in so many wonderful flavours.
Christmas for me would not be the same without a visit to the markets. No matter when you go (even if you went way back on 14th November), you will get a warm, Christmassy feeling surging through your body as you nurse a hot mug of sickly sweet mulled wine.
