Watching the news about hoverboards is almost comical. The media is placing a lot of focus on the “danger” associated with the lithium ion batteries that power hoverboards. I feel that the media demonizing hoverboards is suspect because lithium-ion batteries are the best power source for high-range electric vehicles. It seems like they are building recognition and trying to create an association between danger and lithium ion batteries in advance of the rise of electric vehicles.

People fear change and newness, but sellers of old technology fear obsolescence more than anything.
