On August 3rd three college students from Sacramento, California will begin their 128 hour Twitch livestream for Gamers Gift, a charity they worked together to create. The catch? They will only be playing Minesweeper.

Around February of 2016, the three students, all age 18 at the time, decided to create a charity organization in memory of their best friend. In fifth grade, they faced a Leukemia diagnosis and turned to video games as an opportunity to escape the difficult of battling such an illness. Since forming their 501(c)3 they managed to ban together with other high school/college students to raise over $50,000 from donors and sponsors like Valve and Asus. The organizations main purpose is to bring virtual reality to disabled individuals, elderly, and hospitalized children as a way to provide experiences beyond their hospital bed or wheelchair. Earlier this year, the team released this video from a routine visit to a local assisted living facility. More information about their organization can be found on their Facebook page.

In their next fundraising event, the three men plan to play Minesweeper for up to 7 days, day and night. They will start their countdown timer with 30 minutes, but for every $1 donated (+.80 each hour) they will stream for another minute. To avoid the danger of fatigue, they will stream in five hour shifts for as long as donations continue coming in. Want to see these guys lose their mind playing minesweeper? Visit their Twitch page to support their fundraising efforts and charity organization.
