Balance, fairness in reporting? It died decades ago, around the time UPI became moribund and AP had the field to itself. Advances in technology didn’t help by making pack jornalism too easy to follow the leader who sets the agenda, which is NYT. As it says in “Philip’s Code” — “the truth is the sum of the facts, not some of the facts.” BTW: I thought this story was going to be about working conditions on the Amazon River. Gee, even a leopard. Not everyone has the time to plow through the Internet. That’s what newspapers used to do — bring the world to your doorstep.
