The Gods of Medium. How Do We Appease Them?
I love writing on Medium and reading articles from very talented writers. It has become an unhealthy obsession of sorts — trying to build followers, receive claps, create conversations, and of course make money.
The dopamine high from publishing an article feels like a religious experience — an invigorating and transcending rush for my soul!
And the more I worship this platform, the more I hope I will appease the powerful Gods of Medium.
Is it enough?
I have also watched hordes of aspiring writers make their own pilgrimage to this platform in search of the same religious experience.
You can see it by the sheer amount of new creatives working at a maddening pace to publish their words. You can read how consumed they’ve become to earn the eternal rewards for their sacrifices.
Because the more we give and serve, the more likely we’ll fall into the good graces of the almighty algorithm.
Perhaps the Gods of Medium will notice our efforts and bestow upon us small trinkets of treasures.
And maybe. Just maybe. A few of us will ascend to some higher throne.
