For years, I refused to use an ad-blocking extension in my browser for the very reasons you state. But, approximately a year ago I changed that. Why? Well, not because I have some inherent objection advertising. Rather, because internet advertisers are so inept and clumsy. My internet connection runs at >100 mbps. Yet, the ads — particularly video ads - would not load quickly because the advertisers refused to purchase sufficient bandwidth. Pages would load and reload and reload again because the advertiser’s server was slow. Without the ad-blocker, a simple news website would reload at least twice and take between 15 and 30 seconds to complete the process. With the ad-blocker, pages generally load in less than 5 seconds.

Want me to remove my ad-blocker? Advertisers need to get their own houses in order.
