“Ready Player One” is a perfectly fine Hero’s Journey story that doesn’t much benefit from being a book; it really *should* work better on screen than it did on the page. The middling prose goes away. In it’s place you get to see all the wild pictures Cline paints (what he lacks in glamorous word play he makes up for with some real nifty set pieces), ideally with reduced Bazinga.
