The writing was interesting enough to draw me in, but I felt let down at the end. It seems the most interesting descriptions and the lessons, if there were any, all came in the first 2/3rds. Maybe the point was supposed to be that them mishandling your daughter’s replaceable toy was enough for you to drop the charade and anxieties about being a woman in an environment dominated by men, but it seems there were more meaningful opportunities for that earlier in the story…
