No-one has leveled that charge directly at the test, no. But give it a solid Google and you’ll find there’s a certain amount of discomfort in some places that science is subject to increased scrutiny. As if it was somehow personal.

Here’s something I wrote previously which, I hope, captures the attitude I occasionally see to this and similar sorts of scrutiny:

“… Everyone is in favour of fearless criticism in science, which is a hearty and worthwhile endeavour in pursuit of academic freedom, and the source of many excellent sentences which start with “science is….” which accompany a presentation so very well.

(Of course, when the focus of that criticism is you, fearless criticism exclusively becomes totally unjustifiable persecution and establishes the authors attacking you as self-aggrandising vigilantes.)”
