I agree about Ocean’s 8 seeming to be another entry in the reboot cycle and coming off as lazy. The only reason I even wanted to see the Ghostbusters reboot was because it had an all-female cast, because otherwise it’s another lazy reboot to me, just like other artistically bankrupt busts such as Robocop and Total Recall. I get it, the studios need to make money, but isn’t there a better way to introduce minorities and females into mainstream movies without “pinkwashing” women into franchises that are already known?

The laziest part of all this, to me, is that they couldnt even be bothered to write new characters and stories for women and minorities. As a white male, I’m ready for something different. I enjoy the Marvel movies as much as the next nerd, but come on. Another straight white dude saving the world? Again? Let’s mix it up a little without shoehorning differences into things we’ve already done.
