It’s because all of that self-help/motivation/goals/inspiration/positivity/good vibes stuff sounds like denial. At the end of the day, it’s basically impossible to make oneself do anything by willing it or forcing it (or trying to initiate it; “And you do not will except that Allah wills”), initiating something of your own accord means you’re not surrendering. So when all these self-help-ey, good-attitude-y entrepreneurs start trying to “take control of their lives” and “self-improve” it actually just belies the petty denial that their life is sinking into some sort of blackhole which (they know) they can’t escape. Fun times.
In reality, the black hole is when you start living life because that’s when you stop taking control of your life and give up, but you also can’t “give up” ahead of time and “surrender” of your own accord, because that’s also denial (and trying to control the process). You have no control over the process, it comes when it wills, anything else is denial. At the end of the day, no matter where you are, you can’t go forward, you can’t go backward, and you can’t stay where you are. Hence, widespread denial.
