Guide to the correct furniture’s placement in restaurants

Besides buying the appropriate furniture for separate accommodation, the organizer should consider the maximally suitable variant of its placement.

Coming to the restaurants, clients primarily pay attention to entire atmosphere. Visually, they embrace the whole scale and estimate internal conditions.
What accents do the visitors most often pay attention to?
Firstly, there can be mentioned two types of food service’s centers:

- Buffets, canteens and other places, where the main aim of visitors is having a meal for the short time;

- Restaurants, which play an essential role in visitors’ mood and relax.

In comparison with the first type, the restaurants should be rightly organized, especially considering the furniture placement; because it creates the first impression of visitors.

The requirements, related to furniture placement are simple enough.
Generally, the restaurant managers should consider the optimal free space between the dining sets. What does it obtain?

  • Visitors will be provided with private space, where they can spend enough time to take a rest and enjoy a meal with pleasant company;
  • There will be enough space for waiters’ movement.

However, there should be mentioned that buffets, canteens and other food centers do not greatly need the free passage, because the self service is established there.
Come back to the main issue: “How to place the restaurant furniture?”
There can be considered several versions of furniture’s placing:

  • Simple (standard). This method meets the requirements of directly lined position or placing in chess order. Standard variant does not need any design ideas.
  • Free. This method distinguishes by extensive choice of interior designing. In this case, the whole accommodation can be divided in several parts or sections, decorated in separate colors or design. Generally, all elements should complement each other so that there would be fully stylish integrity.

Important tips:

  • The furniture’s position should be far away from the exit. No one wants to sit near to the entrance, because of the wind and people flow. Therefore, the furniture should be placed in right location, so that the visitors would not be shy of strangers.
  • If you are thinking about placing the furniture against the wall, this variant is possible, if the dining chairs are placed at the lateral sides.
  • The optimal width between dining sets should be around 5’-6’ for comfortable passing of visitors and waiters.
  • Specific attention should be given to the conditions, when the restaurant owner desires to use not the dining chairs, but the functional restaurant couches. In this case, it will be effective to use the space near wall, so that there could be occupied the whole territory, even at a wall, that is the optimal variant for creation the bigger amount of available places for increasing turnover.

Additionally, the bar stand should not be forgotten in furniture placement. This significant element can not only serve for drinks’ saving, but also divide the territory into separate parts (article: “How to place and choose the restaurant barstools”). This condition can be met in that case, when the bar is placed in the middle of the restaurant.
However, usually it is placed near the wall.
