Faith and reason do go together. My over-simplified definitions are that belief is just an opinion, and faith is just trusting that opinion. Your example of the airplane was a great example of faith. Driving on a two-lane highway also takes a great deal of faith.

If you don’t like something, the easiest thing to do is demonize it, attack its core and make it seem unreasonable. This is what atheists have done. The whole “no evidence” thing is a great example. They “need” to feel justified in rejecting things, and to make themselves feel superior.

Fundamentalists do the same thing. They don’t really understand the depths of issues and want to take the easy way out, so they make up some rules. They are the only ones that are right and everyone else is demon possessed or something.

The real questions are so much more interesting than stereotyping others with simplistic attacks. I like the way you explained faith.
