I always knew I was different. In third grade I took my history book home and read the entire thing before the next day. That is why I slept in school all day, and probably why i forgot to do the homework.
I think a therapist who doesnt believe in ADHD would probably do more harm than good to someone who has it. If you dont have it you dont really understand it. I am sure it is wrongly diagnosed at times, but i have zero respect for anyone who says it isnt real.
My wife is a RN. She was the adhd guru at a kids health clinic, meaning she screened kids for adhd. She either referred them to the DR., or told the parents the kid didnt have it. After 30 year of marriage she still doesnt really grasp my adhd because she doesnt have it. SHe knows as much medical about it as anyone, but still doesn’t grasp it. If you haven’t been there … you dont know what the f*ck you are talking about.
