This may seem like a strange topic to start with, but coming from a Blind background, with an increasing taste for interior design. I thought it was time to address a common misconception.

Floral roller blinds seem to come and go with fashion, but regardless of what interior designers say — I think they deserve a place in everyone’s home.

It’s a given that they suit certain rooms and decor styles more than others, but even if you want a stylish and modern home then you may think they won’t fit. But let me assure you, there is always a way to get those flowers into a room.

At Make My Blinds we love a floral roller blind (you might have guessed?) They help bring colour to a room, the patterns are varied and different and more importantly — they are different to the usual solid colour roller blinds.

You are probably a bit sceptical, who is this guy? Why does he love flowers so much? What is Make My Blinds? To put it simply, Make My Blinds is a made to measure blind specialist, selling blinds online. Thats everything from roller blinds to wooden venetian blinds, and most importantly — floral roller blinds.

Let me show you 3 of my favourite roller blinds. These will hopefully get you looking at them the same way I do. These are not your stereotypical, old style blinds, but ones that you would love to have in your home.

Calista Mineral

I’m starting with my favourite. This blind is incredibly popular for bathroom, the delicate dandelion print on the white backing helps to bring out each individual strand and highlights the intricate print. This is great for bathrooms as it is a moisture resistant fabric, so no matter how hot and humid your room becomes, this fabric can take it and will last for years to come.

Calista Mineral Roller Blind

The Calista range comes in 5 colours, all with the white backing but with a different colour print on the front. These little bursts of colour are great for helping add something extra to a bathroom — which can otherwise be a bit of a drab place. Try pairing the towels or some candles in with the colour of the print. This can help change the feel of a room in minutes, and without re-decorating. Sure the walls are still the same colour, but by introducing a new colour scheme and linking it across items will give your bathroom a new feel to it.

Reflection Graphite

This is a very modern blind for a modern home. The black backing paired with the silver print helps this blind suit a multitude of decors, from minimalist designs through to a mode cluttered and homely feel. The dark blacking helps to highlight and emphasise the silver print running across the top of the fabric. This simple design is also one that is not too in your face, or what you may think of as a ‘floral blind’. This simple and elegant design is one that will suit a smaller window perfectly. Being a roller blind means that you can hide the pattern away during the day and show it off at night. The dark material is dim-out, so some light will get through, which is why it works so well in a living room. Whilst this could be installed in a bedroom, the material is not blackout — so if you are a light sleeper then you may want to look at the 3rd blind in this post.

Rosa Shadow

If you are looking for something that is more traditional then this is the bit for you. The Rosa Shadow is a much more intricate and delicate design, in a tasteful black and white print that is overlaid onto a thicker blackout material. This base material comes in 4 colours, grey, light blue, lilac and beige.

The thicker material is blackout and is the type of material you are best off with in a bedroom. The thicker material blocks all light from passing through it, giving you a great night’s sleep — especially if you are a lighter sleeper and need a pitch black room to be able to drift off.

The design is more along the traditional lines too, but the sketched design in its black and white print gives this a slightly more modern edge. Perfect for pairing with a similar themed bedroom or décor.

Why will these designs always be popular?

Well as you can see from this very small sample, the range and changes in design mean that there is always a blind that will suit your decor. No matter if you have a ultra-modern home, a traditional cottage or life in a high-rise apartment — these blinds suit all manner of decors. The real question is not — why are floral blind continuing to be popular? The question is, how can I uses these in my home?
