Beware conflating what works for advertisers vs. what works for a site. Your comment reminds me of the scene in Goodfellas where they talk about mobsters hustling restaurant owners & then cashing out, leaving the restaurant guy with nothing. Ads are the mob, sites are the restaurant. A site with a million daily visitors loses half it’s viewership so that Bitninja can go from 100 new trials a month to 165 new trials a month by using a annoying modal ad. Yes, I’m making up the numbers, but it fits your storyline perfectly. Adverts can boost someone else’s product while sinking your site.
