Only someone profoundly ignorant of history and social forces could make that argument. Or perhaps someone just so dripping in their own privilege that equal rights for other people “feels” like division to them and they lack the self-reflection and critical thinking skills to see past it. Your argument that BLM and equal marriage are “promoting division” calls into question not only the validity of the person making the argument, but their sanity, too. At some point, the inability to connect thoughts coherently becomes a diagnosable issue. Like the head of the county Trump campaign in some southern state who suggested black people weren’t discriminated against before president Obama sowed the seeds of political division. That’s historically ignorant and logically just insane.
