My new daily sheet

The other morning I sat down at my desk to make my daily entry, but when I opened up my journal I realized I had used the last page the day before. This bummed me out. I thought about skipping my daily journal entry, and I worried about the fact that I would have to buy a new journal. When would I have time to make it to the store? Would they have the kind I like? How much would I have to spend?

Ugh. What a terrible start to the day.

Then I changed my perspective. I decided to start thinking about this as an opportunity instead of a problem. I opened up my computer and created a new “daily sheet” that I’ve found to be even more effective than the blank journal pages I was using before.

My new daily sheet is two pages, but I print it out on one sheet of paper front and back. I fill out the daily journal side first then flip it over to fill out the daily task list. I use the bottom portion for my notes throughout the day which ensures that my most important tasks are always right in front of my face. At the end of the day I crumple up the piece of paper and throw it away.

So far one of the things I like most about the new daily sheet is the daily task list. I like how it forces me to define the 5 most important tasks that I want to accomplish during the day. This seems to be a lot more effective than the unlimited list of to-do’s I was using before because it requires me to think a lot harder about what I need to get done that day.
