I think this brings up a really great point. We get so self absorbed all the time, thinking that everyone’s watching for even the slightest mistake. Even the things that we do that aren’t mistakes that we think are mistakes… We just overthink everything!

I related a lot to the idea about walking into a social situation and thinking that everyone is looking and judging. You hear someone cough and you’re like, “Aw man that girl coughed because I look ugly.”……………. Yo what? Two totally unrelated things. And yet, that’s how self-critical we are! We simply assume when we feel negative about ourselves that everything going on around us someone links back to our shortcomings.

With this, I think it’s also important that we move on from past mistakes. Not even like the serious mistakes, but especially the little ones that we always beat ourselves up about. Tripping in the hall, messing up on a word in a speech, dropping a cake, whatever the heck it was, just forget about it. No one remembers it and you don’t need to either. And the ones who remember it and bring it up all the time and judge you based on that, well, forget them too, they need to move on and get a life that’s not so caught up in yours and focused on your flaws.
