First off: I’d like to apologize for my snarky response to your other message. I thought that you and Benjamin T. Awesome were the same person; you’re not, so I jumped the gun.

But still, you are both engaging in the same logical fallacy: confusing necessary and sufficient causes. For instance, today Madison Keys will compete in the semifinals of Olympic women’s tennis. If I said, “Daria Kasaktina could have stopped her from getting there”, do you see how replying “No, Danka Kovnic could have stopped her” would be true but irrelevant?
