Buffet has hired assassins, he doesn’t have to do anything, of course he has time to think.
There’s no such thing as one process that works for everyone, or a process that works every time.
I do agree that doing things just for the sake of doing them will only keep your wheels spinning, but not really going anywhere. Most of the time people don’t ever think, or care about, whether they’re really moving, they are sure they are just because they’re busy.
I’d be more apt to fire the individuals who spend 60–70 hours a week in the office and promote the ones who tend to come in late and go home early. Obviously context is important here, but most people who work that much are terribly inefficient (though most of the time it comes from the top down and being that employees are indentured servants they are subject to the same ideological demands that their bosses adhere to). And most people who don’t actually spend 40 hours a week in the office, leaving early or at the very least on time every day, are the ones who are really damn efficient with their work and time.
They need to be teaching others to let go of the control they think they have on their day in order to gain real control. Don’t just do everything that is asked of you, that’s a recipe for failure, and indentured servitude, but rather learn to say no, prioritize, and delegate.
Now, in today’s society it’s a bit ass backwards, as the people who look busy are often promoted, because they’re dedicated. Though, it’s likely that they’re just seen as good soldiers, those who don’t think for themselves and thus won’t push back on the ignorance that exists. Quite pathetic really.
