Good post. I get tired of the “execution” mantra myself. If you’re in the trenches every single day trying to execute, you lose sight of what you’re executing, you lose sight of the long term goal, you’re just trying to live through another day.

At some level that is what is necessary, you trust (maybe) the vision and strategies (ideas!) of those above you. They are two sides of the same coin, both are useless without the other, but one has to come first and therefore it, to me, is more important — that’s ideas.

Here’s another thing — an idea will float about until it finds someone who can execute it. But execution can’t live without an idea. Ideas are the oxygen for execution.
