Super Tuesday — Don’t Listen to the Media
“Hillary Clinton dominates Super Tuesday” one article headline reads. Of course, this is our new age sensationalism, everything has to be on the far edges of the spectrum, because “Hillary Clinton does what’s expected” isn’t that flashy.
But it’s more accurate. You see, Super Tuesday was never going to be Bernie’s time to shine. While Bernie is absolutely vying for the ever important African-American vote, he isn’t making very many strides. This isn’t news, it’s just facts — and it’s well known by now. Why isn’t he making strides? Now that would be news, because frankly, I have no fucking idea. But that’s neither here nor there.
Today was supposed to be Hillary’s day, sweep Bernie and put him out of the race. But that never came to fruition. She won where she was expected to win, by wide margins (as expected also), because her interest is (oddly) in the deep south. But she barely pulled through in Massachusetts (as her husband illegally pandered for votes) and she was thoroughly beaten in Vermont (as expected), Colorado, and Minnesota. Wide margins in the last two, much wider than expected.
That’s actually great news for Bernie. If he can keep pace in the northeast, or keep it close, and can expect to keep pulling that kind of support out of the West, he has a very legitimate shot to win.
Don’t look at the delegate count right now, it’s skewed heavily by the superdelegates (which is an absolute fraud but that’s how the former Democratic party operates). Those superdelegates will not change the result of the general election voters, if Bernie keeps plugging away like this they will rescind their support of Hillary and let the people decide. The people will decide Bernie.
On the other side of the spectrum it was a weird day, but not particularly good for Donald Trump. Weird because Kasich was such a huge player in Massachusetts and Vermont — which absolutely hurt Rubio. But also weird because not only did Cruz win Texas as expected, but he obliterated Trump. He also pulled away in Oklahoma for a fairly easy win too, which was not expected at all.
And now Rubio demolished Trump in Minnesota (and Cruz), which wasn’t unexpected because Rubio is by far the candidate of choice in blue held states. That was always expected, except for the Kasich thing, which hurts. One of them has to go, that’s for sure. The Donald won where he was expected to win, the deep south with the mostly uneducated and poor vote — again weird because the poor are voting for a man who had everything handed to him, has ran many businesses in the ground and then left them high and dry hurting only the low level employees, and is a billionaire who has no sense of reality and is simply pandering with no intention to actually follow through on anything he says (because he can’t).
Rubio should take Alaska too, which leaves us with — I don’t know. The most fractured state of either of the two parties ever possibly? Maybe that’s sensationalism, but holy damn what’s going on. Trump is not the man of choice for most GOP members, but Kasich is hurting Rubio in the northeast, Rubio is hurting Cruz down south, and Rubio is widely preferred in the North / West. They truly cannot figure it out, and no one will want to drop out (except Carson) because they all have momentum to hang their hat on.
The real loser here was Donald Trump and the GOP Establishment and voters. Again, Trump is not the party’s choice — not the establishment or the mainstream voters. He would be raking in over 50% and he wouldn’t be underperforming in many states as he did tonight. His underperformance was monumental, it opens the flood gates for someone to come in and take him out. But who? That’s the problem, there is no obvious choice, which is what everyone hoped would happen after Super Tuesday. So while Donald lost incredibly tonight, he is still supported by a four member race where he has a low ceiling but can win if they don’t consolidate soon enough.
Hillary and Donald can’t be overly happy with the results tonight, it leaves them completely vulnerable. Which is, honestly, exactly how they should feel. Both are horrible options (in my estimation) and are all wrong for their party. They represent everything wrong with this country today. Elitism, nepotism, and two-faced, cut-throat, immoral, self serving, manipulating cunts.
