Unfortunately, Bernie Sanders is a Fraud

But That’s OK

I can’t speculate on intent, the reality is we just don’t know and I don’t feel like attempting to fill in the blanks that make up the all important context — but what I know is that Bernie Sanders apparently just spent somewhere near $500-$600 thousand dollars on a lake house that purportedly isn’t even the main residence of the Sanders family.

What progressive socialist feels this is appropriate? The answer is simple, they wouldn’t.

Yes, it’s his money and I have no problem with him using his money in the way he sees fit. However, for someone who rails against the evils of capitalism (though, not enough frankly) it seems incompatible with his message (that brought tens of millions of people together through hope, and not fear like his opponent, Hillary, and tan mom Donald Trump). You can’t openly take advantage of your position in a capitalist society while railing against others who do the same — no matter the justification — and having a few different houses that are near half a million dollars is exorbitant for any human being.

But it doesn’t matter. No one should be disappointed because almost no one is a real leader, and almost no one is perfect enough to never let you down. We weren’t following Bernie Sanders, not at all, even he admitted such, instead we were following his message and that message still resonates and can still drive our collective conscious. Yes, it is a bit more difficult because Sanders was the lightning rod who was the catalyst, but in reality he’s more replaceable than we are.

This is a secondary lesson here but don’t ever put your faith in a person, only in their message. If you agree with their message when you think they’re being genuine then you should when they ultimately let you down. The message itself doesn’t die, it doesn’t change, it’s still valid, even if the person no longer is. No one should be held on a pedestal, because they will fail you, that is human nature. But messages exist outside of those who share them, no one owns the message therefore no one can undermine the credibility, unless you allow them to.

Everything Mr. Sanders stood for (supposedly) should drive us even today. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t live by those standards himself, it matters that we still believe in those standards and keep pushing our message for the sake of humanity. Really good people fall prey to the bowels of capitalism, economic achievement and materialistic desires, but morality doesn’t die with their integrity, it will find a new host, a better one.
