That’s amazing!

Hey Linda! Had the same issue. I’m new to Docker. I was running:

docker run \
-d -p 9000:9000 portainer/portainer \
-v "/var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock"

I followed Peter’s debugging tips here, and then uncovered the message:

portainer: error: unknown short flag ‘-v’

So in my case, it was because I put the -voption at the end of my command. That makes it an option to the container, not to docker.

Moving the -v option to the beginning, it works:

docker run \
-v "/var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock" \
-d -p 9000:9000 portainer/portainer
