Wonderful analysis. Yet you come down awfully hard on numbers which are used for nefarious purposes. One might be left with the impression that numbers — and thus math, science and technology — are inherently destructive because, at present, they mainly serve the exponential growth of the capitalist machine.

I recognize that this may not be central to the thesis of your article. But would you consider balancing this analysis with the ways that numbers — and thus math, science and technology — can serve humanity and the planet by showing human beings a path to sustainability that is not based on market logistics?
