I wouldn’t say that a tweet is the best way to tell a story. It’s just the opposite. But being rigid in story formats that worked well for newspapers won’t serve a young audience who is used to mobile technology. I think using design and delivering a product that can take a story and deliver it in the best way possible — whether that’s a news alert, a long-form piece, an interactive experience, a video, etc.—for that audience doesn’t change the principles of news, but it would change the practices from newspaper practices to digital/mobile ones. And yes, it would take time.
