There is a Vietnamese stand in the downtown market in Columbus and I see plenty of Boomers eating pho. Need I remind Jennifer she’s talking about the generation that went to Woodstock, protested the Vietnam War, and helped bring about all of the progressive legislation passed in 1965–1980 which gave her the country she has enjoyed throughout her life? When Boomers were in their 20’s, buying a starter home was about the most responsible thing a young person could do, since the real estate market was steadily appreciating and the home mortgage deduction was about the only way that most people could shelter their income from taxation. For her to brand that as “irresponsible” suggests that she really doesn’t know a thing about this subject and should stick to her area of expertise: dating and breaking up in New York City.
