Persuaded by your above article, I shall no longer call myself a feminist; I shall henceforth call myself PRO-FEMINIST. Since you asked (in the article), the reason I started embracing feminism consciously at age 13 is because I have two older sisters and no brothers; when they discovered the rape culture of this twisted country, I felt poisoned by it — I hated myself for being male, and it took years of work to accept myself — and swore to be part of the solution. I was the only 13 year old boy reading Audre Lorde’s Sister Outsider. Activism and advocacy were the next step, as was the reading of lots of books of argumentation, theory, politics, and memoir by feminist women and by allied men. I am not comparing my troubles to anyone else’s, nor shedding tears of privilege: I am accounting for myself, which we all have a right to do. Have a great day, and best wishes. Thanks for the teachings.
