Ali, I’m a 16 yr brain cancer survivor and like you I was “riggety-wrecked” with late-effects. It took me 10 years of researching, learning, and experimenting on myself before I wasn’t just “good”, but actually great: strong, energetic, optimistic.
I figured that helping survivors through the Transition period must be a part of overall Oncology now and I just went through it all too long ago — WRONG. I was amazed that this isn’t addressed, so I got certified as a coach and started a practice. But I can’t find many survivors, at all, who want this help. The older ones ((50–70) don’t want to make big changes to their lifestyle, and maybe the younger ones don’t either? But there are “simple” — well, let’s call them “clear” steps to getting our bodies, minds, and spirits not just functional, but thriving. I am immensely frustrated taht I can’t share this with a LOT of people. If all of the cancer survivors changed their thoughts and behaviors and became wildly healthy and happy, then maybe we could prevent the other 30% of this country who WILL be dx, from getting cancer in the first place!
