Senses
When she looks at you, she sees galaxies. The shadows casted on her heart are illuminated by the shining night sky. The stars break through the clouds in her eyes. Those gray colors that once never showed a speck of blue and were always dull now shine like sapphires. The light in her eyes shine brighter than all of the stars in the Milky Way. She loves you so much more than to the moon and back.
When she hears you, she hears hope. She’s can hear the soft melody of a ballad behind your words, soothing her thoughts that are so often negative. Then she hears the beat of a fast pace song, when you let her know that the two of you are young and alive and there is nothing better seizing the moment and living like there is no tomorrow. Then you play the delicate acoustic song behind your words of love. Swaying side to side in an embrace, listening to the proclaimed affection she thought she would never have.
When she tastes you, she tastes familiarity. She tastes the minty toothpaste on your tongue that you bought at the grocery store together. The cherry lip balm that you like to take out of her purse and put on your lips so they’re smooth. The taste of popcorn that you burnt when you decided to have a Netflix marathon cuddled up on your bed on a rainy day. She tastes the sense of ease you give her in the small actions of love.
When she smells you, she smells flowers. She can smell the white roses you bought her for your first Valentine’s Day. She can smell the poinsettias you decorate your home with during the holidays. She can smell the lilies you get her when she is having a bad day, because you know they are her favorite. And she smells the red peonies that will one day adorn her wedding bouquet as she is walking down the aisle towards you.
When she touches you, she feels a future. No more are the days when she yearns for something to come out of nothing. You give her hope for something she never believed in, happiness with another person. You hold her hand and she knows you never want to let go. When your arms are around her waist, you are her anchor, keeping her steady. When your lips touch, she can feel the coming years of your life together.
