Great article. The industry and surrounding circus need to focus more on, and celebrate more the bootstrapped businesses that are growing without funding. They don’t get the attention of tech press, and they don’t get the credibility they deserve because they can;t throw big numbers around.
“I bootstrapped a business to a million” seems to be so much less glamorous than “I raised ten million” when the former is actually the better story.
I hope that these tales of reformed cash burners may inspire the next generation of startups to consider income generation and profitability of their concept before they consider funding.
