He heard something had happened, he did not wait to hear what. He got on a plane in what seemed like the next day and came for us. He appeared out of no where. It was a Sunday night, we were with family, and then a knock on the door.
He was there. I cannot begin to relay the shock, the happiness that filled my heart. I felt like I would have fainted. That was my Daddy. He was our rock and fortress. Our guardian angel, and anointed high tower. He showed up as he always did. He took care of us.
Til this day that has been the very best surprise I have ever had. I cannot remember what is was that he believed had happened. I cannot even recall what the message was about. All I know is that he thought we needed him, and he did not hesitate. He loved us that much. It was was the most lovely gesture, only one of a lifetime of loving gestures.
The trip did not end in happiness. It did not end as we came to believe it would. It ended with him having to leave us behind. It ended in tears, and insurmountable pain. It was devastating both for him, and us. I was very little, but looking back the feeling was unbearable. But even so, we knew we were loved no matter what we were told. He came for us, and that helped to get us through. It kept us strong.
Daddy, and Mama our guardians, the loves of our life. It seemed that when love was created it had them in mind.
