Burnout & Meaning
Benjamin Lupton

Excellent points, and a great resource, too — I’d not seen burnout.io before, but I plan on exploring it some more.

Related to that — have you read “The Truth About Burnout” by Christina Maslach and Michael Leiter? I started reading it recently, and I’ve really been struck by its insights. It was written nearly 20 years ago, so some examples are a bit dated, but the core of it still really rings true to me. My favorite quote so far:

Burnout is always more likely when there is a major mismatch between the nature of the job and the nature of the person who does the job.

It reminds me of your remark, that “burnout occurs when one loses meaning in their task.”
