Excellent article. I’m in an interesting position where I have some moderately successful open source libraries, but have stopped doing day-to-day coding, so my open source contributions have suffered. I still enjoy it, and people are still using my libraries, but I don’t have the same skin in the game that I used to.
I’m not really “burned out”, but I just don’t have the same extrinsic motivations.
I’d like to get back into coding at some point. The downside to building a successful development shop (mine is Infinite Red) is that it pulls my priorities elsewhere. And our tech stack has shifted more toward Elixir, React, and React Native, so I have some catch-up to do.
